TechShop Tool Heaven Opens in San Francisco

Look what $100 a month can buy you membership to in San Franscisco – Techshop Tool Heaven. I’m definitely jealous. Of course, most of my pieces are too big to take there and then take home.

TechShop Tool Heaven  has everything a maker could ever need, including CNC machines and 3D rendering software. Adam Savage of MythBusters explains how you can even make the machines that make the machines there.

Guitartown Project RFP

Dear Friends,
Here is the link for the RFP from the Sunset Strip Business Association for the addition of 8 more guitars to the Guitartown project now on exhibition on the Sunset Strip. Please pass on to artists who may be interested in being a part of this unique temporary public art project. Here is the link for the Artist Call.
This project highlights the Sunset Strip as a destination for visitors and a place where musical legends have been and continue to be created.
The exhibition period of the guitars is for approximately 1 year and then all artworks are auctioned to support various local non-profits. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at
Many Thanks,

Sculpture Opportunities

Steel Sculpture

Steel Sculpture

To be recognized as a sculptor and effectively sell your work, you have to get your work out in the public eye. This will take some bucks – for applications, to rent the big truck, gas, road food, motel – plus a lot of time. But you can’t sit at home and expect people to drive up.

Some of the programs listed below will pay a stipend of $500 – $2000 for the lease of your sculpture for (usually) two years. You can’t make a living doing these (let alone break even), but you can get your work seen, build your resume and hopefully (eventually) make some sales.

Following are some excellent links with opportunities for sculptors:
