Public Art Opportunities – Yearly in Cary, NC

Cary Visual Art is a grass-roots non-profit public art organization in Cary, North Carolina. CVA facilitates permanent placements, temporary exhibitions, and community programming.

Sculpture artists from across the nation are invited to participate in the 2012 Cary Visual Art Outdoor Sculpture Competition & Exhibition, August 10, 2012 – June 21, 2013. Organized and presented by Cary Visual Art with the support of the Town of Cary, this exhibition offers established and emerging artists the opportunity to display their sculptures throughout the heart of beautiful downtown Cary, North Carolina.Apply through (CafE). Jeffery York is Public and Cultural Arts Administrator for the Town of Chapel Hill, NC. He oversees the Town’s Percent for Art Program, administers the Artist-in-Residency, Community Arts, temporary gallery exhibition, and yearly outdoor sculpture exhibit programs, as well as community festivals and celebrations.

 Request for Proposals (RFP): West Main Street Gateway Public Art Project

 Public Art Chattanooga is seeking proposals for a monumental sculpture for temporary placement on a grassy lot at the corner of West Main Street and Broad Street in downtown Chattanooga’s burgeoning Southside district. The sculpture will be on view for two years from June 2012 to June 2014. The artist will receive a $20,000 stipend.

 Eligibility: This RFP is open to all professional artists and artist teams over the age of 18, who currently reside in the United States.

 Application Deadline: Applications must be received by mail, hand or electronically by Monday, April 9, 2012, 4:00 pm EST. Refer to page 4 of the guidelines for application procedures. The application can be found on page 6.

Public Art is a great way to launch your career. It takes time to do the paperwork, and sometimes you have to travel to view the site (usually there is a stipend for that). But the communities have big money, $20K, $60K, $100K. I was runner-up for a $150K project.
