The next metal sculptures are new designs completed in 2010. These modern metal sculptures are made with aluminum, a very strong, non-rusting, bright silvery colored metal. Aluminum is suitable for salt-water environments, as well as wet, cold and hot locations. Aluminum is generally preferable to stainless steel for outdoors sculptures. Stainless steel simply 'stains less' than steel, and 'rusts less' too. Aluminum neither stains nor rusts.

Aluminum is widely used for boats and airplanes. Aluminum is strong and light-weight - about half the weight of steel for the same thickness. It is rarely used in cars - except for racing cars and the most expensive collector cars, like Ferraris - because it would put the automakers out of business. Imagine a world of high-mpg, non-rusting cars. Aluminum is a more expensive metal than steel and more difficult to weld.

Here's another aluminum sculpture and a sculpture made with bronze, now in a private sculpture garden in New Jersey. The bronze sculpture is sealed with acrylic to retain the beautiful golden bronze color. The acrylic will eventually weather off, then the bronze will develop a beautiful brown & green patina. Then it will last for thousands of years, just like the bronzes from ancient Greece and Rome.
