Reverse-S Installation Instructions
Greetings and thank you for purchasing one of my dimensional wall sculptures
Construction: This piece is made with fire-colored copper laminated to a wood armature. This makes the piece both strong and lightweight. Though it looks massive, the weight of this piece is only 24 lbs. The wood armature also makes it easy to attach hangers for unique orientations and custom installations.
Care - Copper is harder than wood but softer than most other metals so avoid touching the surface with any metallic object. The copper is protected with an outdoor grade sculptural wax but this can be removed with solvent. There should be no need to use any cleaners on this wall sculpture. Simply dust occasionally, as needed.
Removal from box: Cut the wires securing the piece to the box. Leave the straight wood pieces in place until the piece is installed. They add a lot of rigidity to the piece and make it easier to handle. Also leave the round black risers attached.
Installation
Typically, two or three men and two ladders are required to install this piece in a 2-storey vertical configuration – one 18’ ladder and one shorter step-ladder.
First, take the plastic template and position it on the wall in the orientation that the walls sculpture will be taking. When satisfied, tape it in place.
Locate and mark the wall where the nail holes will go for the 50# hooks (3 included). Note that the nail goes 1” above where the hook and hanger meet for the two side hooks. For the topmost hook the hanger will hang from the nail and not the hook, so as to keep the hook hidden.
Remove the plastic template from the wall and install the three hooks.
Now you can hang the piece. Have one person get in position up on the ladder. The other person will pick up the wall sculpture, pass it to the lead man and help steady it as the lead man positions the hangers on the hooks.
Once the wall sculpture is installed, get it the ‘shake test’. This will help ascertain if the hangers are fully seated on the hooks.
Now the straight wood pieces can be removed. Also remove the black round risers that support the piece against the wall – simply twist and pull. All the risers can be removed, except for the ½’ risers on the largest square.
Congratulations!
