Triptych 1 made from 36 x 48 Copper with brass spiral on wood

End result: 11 rectangles and 2 center straight pieces. The largest rectangle will have an outside dimension of 36” x 48”

1. Check the overall dimensions of the rectangle – are the opposite sides the same length? Are the diagonals the exact same length? If not, mark and trim to make an exact rectangle

2. Mark with a thin magic marker – 1.5” rectangles – be very precise – we need to end up with exact dimensioned rectangles

3. Trim off excess wood with band saw to the exact edge

4. Use an awl point on each corner – press very gently – we want to create a tiny hole that will catch the drill bit – we do not want to deform the copper/wood

5. Using the smallest drill bit (3/64”) with Dremel – drill holes in all corners – use a piece of cardboard next to the hole to protect the copper finish

6. Cut on Scroll Saw – use the #5 blades – for long sections, cut 22” from each direction then finish off with the ‘past the post’ technique

7. Repair all voids with wood filler

8. Repair all lifted sections with glue

9. Sand and file as necessary

10. Primer on – use the gray automobile primer – okay to spray – spray it 2x – clean the fronts within 10 minutes of spraying – let dry overnight

11. Black spray – use the Krylon semi-flat

12. Rewax the front and buff
