Making a 22” high End Table

Make 12 tiles, 7” x 7”, .020 copper on one side, .050 stainless steel on the other

Need 8 – 22” long pieces of 8-32 thread rod

· These may need to be trimmed to 21.5” later

· 10-24 rod would be better, if it will fit

Cut 24 – 7” long pieces of ¼” copper pipe –

· bend pipe straight with bender before cutting

· use band saw for cutting the soft pipe

· use file to clean up band saw cut

· after cutting, make sure the thread rod passes through

Need 16 nuts (to fit thread rod) – lock nuts may be ideal

· Also need rubber caps for heads & feet

Groove opposite ends of each tile so that copper pipe is completely hidden, when placed in the groove

Patina the copper pipe black. Let dry, they spray with Incralac

· Put several on a coat hanger wire when spraying

Glue the copper pipe pieces into each groove – make sure they are exactly located

· Which glue to use?

Edge black the tile sides – use black solvent dye in an oil-based urethane, dry overnight, then dry in oven

· then topcoat with low-gloss black latex

Texturize the SS and copper sides of the tiles then paint each with a different color

· Clear – blue – green – red – orange – yellow – purple – chartreuse – violet – white – black - brown

Assemble all the tiles in the chain configuration

Set on top a 24” round glass top
