Final Size: 30” diameter
- Spirals
- Cut copper 30” x 30”– cut from the 36” wide sheet to reduce wastage
- Find the center of the rectangle and mark with a small ‘X’
- Layout lines for 16 equal sized sectors
- Draw the circle
- Using the spiral template for the 36” design, draw 8 spirals
- Hand cut the spirals
- NOTE: cut the spirals with a clockwise rotation from big to small, outside to inside – the side that is marked will become the back, to help with the layout for the pie pieces
- Cut copper 30” x 30”– cut from the 36” wide sheet to reduce wastage
- Pie pieces
- Cut copper 30” x 30”– cut from the 36” wide sheet to reduce wastage
- Find the center of the rectangle and mark with a small ‘X’
- Layout lines for 16 equal sized sectors
- Draw the circle
- Hand cut the pie pieces
- Cut copper 30” x 30”– cut from the 36” wide sheet to reduce wastage
- Weaving
- Flip over the spirals so that now the rotation goes up and out from the center to the outside
- Weave in the pie pieces as close as possible to the center – start with a piece woven closest to the center
- Note: Try to hide the thin ends of the spirals behind the pie pieces
- Flip over the spirals so that now the rotation goes up and out from the center to the outside
- Finish work
- Flip the finished piece over and braze each outside piece at its corners
- Trim pie pieces to the round – don’t trim any of the spiral arms
