Its hard to find time to write when I'm working 12 hour days.
Got back from the show in Atlanta - The Dogwood Festival - a week ago Monday night. Terrible show, no buyers for my price range, weather turned cold Saturday afternoon and we wore gloves and winter coats all day Sunday. But on top of that, it has taken me a week to get back to work. I've been too tired from all the intensive rush preparations, the huge amount of work that was finished last minute, the driving both ways (always harder to drive back), living in motels, the tough set up and break down, and then its exhausting to be charming for ten hours a day and ready and willing to explain my work to whoever wants some entertainment.
I canceled the Artisphere show in South Carolina and the Southlake show in Texas. I would rather stay home and work on tables and lamps.
I am switching from the 26 gauge stainless steel to the .032 aluminum for the wall pieces. Its 1/4 the weight and easy to bend and file and drill. I finished a number of mounting pieces today and painted two.
The electrician finished his work on our room addition - a master bedroom and bathroom. Now for the inspection, and then the walls can start going up. Probably three more months. It is costing a lot of money. $3000 for windows, $3000 for plumbing, $2000 electrician, $3000 for framing. $12000 for all the fixtures (toilet, bidet, sinks, mirrors, lights, fan, jacuzzi, shower stuff, faucets, etc. Still have to get the heated floor, doors, walls, floor covering, tiles for bathroom. Yikes!
Metal insights. I've been having trouble flaming some copper - 5 mil weaving with two circles. One seemed to go yellow. One was too monochromatic. Here's the tip. Flame with a #3 Meco Tip to a dark brown. Then go back and really roast the circles. They need to go black basically. That means the metal has to get red hot.
Aluminum .032 - probably should be cut by hand or with the Makita. The drill snips are not working.
I am trying to get the order out to D.E. Shaw tomorrow and the check from Highmark came for the 10-Aluminum piece. I need to varnish the one I have and check the edges and back.
That's it. 9:10 and time for dinner.
