Aluminum Wall Sculpture Gallery - Open Designs
These are some more of my recent
designs in aluminum. Basically they are all puzzle pieces. I start with one large
shape and cut out all the other smaller shapes from the inside of the
large one, then reassemble them in a more pleasing-to-the-eye, higher ordered fashion.

I use 1/16" thick aluminum bonded to both sides of 1/2" marine plywood for these designs, which significantly keeps the weight down and makes them easier to handle and install as well as safer for in-home display. The large Reverse-S design weighs only 30 lbs, though it feels much heavier when you lift it, due to its size and bulk.

These designs could also be made in solid 1/4"
aluminum or stainless steel for external display. A Rotating Triangles design in
1/2" solid aluminum would be about 130 lbs in weight.

I have more designs that I am working on, and will post them as time allows. Basically, any design that can be done in copper can also be done in aluminum or stainless steel.
